What is a soft water loop?

As you start your search for information on a softener system, one of the first questions you will be asked is if you have a soft water loop. A soft water loop simplifies the installation of a softener system by having the water supply (plumbed all throughout the home EXCEPT the kitchen cold line and outside hose bibs), drain line, and power supply in the same area.
